A Note Before Bed

I’m currently caught up in beginning serious revision of my novel, and thus have less time to blog. I talked to my mom today and saw Brave with a friend. Couldn’t help but read psychological symbolism in it: the kingdom will be at peace when the woman and the kingdom both embrace the bear within the woman. Her wild fierce independence. Couldn’t agree more. A couple of days ago, I received in the mail a book I’m very excited to read: From Emotional Chaos to Clarity, by Buddhist teacher Phillip Moffitt. I also made an excellent summer playlist recently:

  1. Hills of Mexico (Roscoe Holcomb) (bluegrass)
  2. O Spirit Sweet of Summertime (The Revels) (Traditional English song)
  3. Dance Medley: Jack’s Maggot Gathering Peascods (The Revels) (English country dance music)
  4. Tell Me (Tom Waits)
Wish You Were Here Tonight (by Ray Charles, performed by The Band in the 80s)
  5. You’re Still On My Mind (George Jones song performed by The Byrds)
  6. Little Birdie (Roscoe Holcomb)
  7. My True Story (The Jive Five) (doo-wop)
  8. Wochenend und Sonnenschein (“Weekend and Sunshine”) (The Comedian Harmonists) (1930s German a capella group)
  9. What A Difference A Day Made (Django Reinhardt)
  10. Willow Tree (Roscoe Holcomb)
  11. Iowa (Dar Williams)
  12. The Wild Mountain Thyme (performed by Bob Dylan at the Isle of Wight festival)
  13. Dancing At A Funeral (Brett Dennen)
  14. Rise (Eddie Vedder)

About Kestrel Montague

I like writing, meditation, art, reading, riding horses, playing guitar, watching trees in the wind, ferns, the smell of woodsmoke, Mozart and Bach, long walks in the wilderness, and the sound of the cello.

I would like to politely request (with an edge of insistence) that you allow me to read your book if you ever sent it out for people’s opinions. I quite like critiquing and send detailed notes.
